This was a sad year, first Peter Steele, later Ronnie James and now Steve Lee. Rock music lost a great rocker, we miss you :'-(

Dear Friends/Family:

I cannot imagine your sorrow. As a fan of Gotthard and Steve Lee, I was crushed when I read the news on facebook of his all too soon passing. You have my deepest sympathies.
I first heard Steve Lee's amazing voice in the mid-90s. A friend from the UK, whom I had met on the internet, asked me if I heard of Gotthard. Living in Canada, I had never heard of them. He sent me a copy of their debut album. I was absolutely floored by their talent and Steve Lee's voice. After growing up in an era of music videos, his music sold me on Gotthard because I had never seen them before.
Tonight, over fifteen years later, I am watching the Made In Switzerland for the first time. It would never play in my American made DVD players before tonight. For some reason, something or someone told me to try it. Steve Lee was an amazing performer who absolutely loved his work. I was sad to think that I would never see him live living an ocean apart, but tonight I am watching an amazing perfomer. (Thanks Steve. I think he gave me the hint to try it.)
I am a writer and I will be dedicating my next book to his memory. It is my way of remembering someone who has given me almost twenty years of memories and amazing music.
Again, my deepest sympathies.

Sincerely,

Harvey McCarthy

I learned of the sad new tonight when after a great gig Pete Jupp of FM announced from the stage the loss and a sincere and heartfelt "three cheers or Steve" was given by the audience. I had the pleasure of seeing Steve and the band perform in England last year, a great singer, a great frontman...a Great Man. Thoughts and support and love go out to all Steve's family, friends and all those who had the honour to have known him personally.
